AVSL 2024/25: Round 1 Wrap

AVSL is back for another action-packed season. Whilst it wasn’t the warm sunny start to the season that we’d hoped for, it was fantastic to see everyone back on the track as well as a number of new faces.

Preston Athletic Club have begun the 2024/25 season strongly, finishing 3rd (19,600pts) on the Division 3 ladder. All our Age Group teams had a strong start to the new season, particularly the U20 Men who finished 2nd (2,888pts) in the state behind Eaglehawk Athletic Club. Well done also to our 40+ Women who finished 3rd in the state with 1,393pts.

A big congratulations to Anwita Prasanth, who scored 1,189pts, which saw her finish as the 6th highest female point scorer in the state across all age groups. Congratulations also to Gurpreet Rai, who finished 7th out of all the males with 1,109pts.

Well done to Aarthika Jeevithan (877pts) Arnavjot Aulakh (1,026pts), Rajnihal Singh Bhullar (904pts), Nicolas Bannan (902pts) and Fatehaviraj Bhullar (823pts) who all finished in the top 100 male and female athletes across the state.

The following athletes recorded PBs in the following events: Anwita Prasanth (200m, triple jump and shot put), Jagjit Kaur (discus), Fatehaviraj Bhullar (shot put), Arnavjot Aulakh (high jump and triple jump), Joseph Mazzocca (shot put), Jasman Mann (200m, high jump, shot put, discus), Rajnihal Singh Bhullar (200m, high jump and triple jump) and Jasman Jhangra (200m and triple jump).

Of course AVSL couldn’t run without the wonderful support of our officials. A big thank you to club officials Cheryl Duff and David Long for volunteering their time to officiate during round 1.

Thanks to Joanna Margiolis (@joannamargiolis), for taking photos for the club. The full album can be viewed on our Facebook page.
