AVSL 2024/25: Round 2 Wrap

Round 2 of AVSL saw Preston Athletic Club finish first in Division 3 for the round. This excellent result sees us sit second on the Division 3 ladder with 18pts after the first two rounds.

A strong performance from our U20 Men’s team, had them finish on the top of the State U20 ladder with 3,377pts. Well done also to our 40+ Women who finished 3rd (1,377pts) in the state, behind powerhouse clubs Diamond Valley and Doncaster. Our U14 Women’s team also performed strongly finishing 4th on the ladder with 3,857pts.

A strong club spirit had us enter 4 relay teams this round, which strongly assisted us in getting over the line to finish first for the round. Thank you to the following athletes for representing the club in the 4x100m relays: Anwita Prasanth, Aarthika Jeevithan, Reet Sandhu, Ojal Kurl (U14 Women); Gurpreet Rai, Matthew Villella, Chloe Grenade, Jordan Samson (Open Men); Arnavjot Aulakh, Fatehaviraj Bhullar, Nicolas Bannan, Rajnihal Singh Bhullar (U20 Men); and Jasman Jhangra, Jasman Mann, Ansh Chauhan, Prem Bhatt (U16 Men).

Special thanks to the following athletes for steping out of their respective teams to assist in filling additional teams: Chloe Grenade (Open Men), Ansh Chauhan (U16 Men), Rajnihal Singh Bhullar (U20 Men).

Congratulations to Gurpreet Rai on being the Most Valuable Male Athlete in the state for Round 2. Gurpreet finished the round in first place with 1,245pts. Anwita Prasanth continued her successful start to the season, finishing 6th (1,221pts) in the state for a second week in a row.

Well done to the following athletes on finishing in the top 100 Most Valuable Athletes for Round 2: Aarthika Jeevithan (918), Nicolas Bannan (982), Arnavjot Aulakh (912), Fatehaviraj Bhullar (906) and Jasman Mann (843).

The following athletes recorded PBs in the following events: Anwita Prasanth (400m and long jump), Jagjit Kaur (long jump and javelin), Gurpreet Rai (400m), Fatehaviraj Bhullar (long jump), Nicolas Bannan (long jump), Jasman Mann (100m, long jump and javelin), Rajnihal Singh Bhullar (100m and long jump), Jigar Chhoker (100m, long jump and javelin), Jasman Jhangra (100m, long jump and javelin), Ansh Chauhan (100m and long jump).

Of course AVSL couldn’t run without the wonderful support of our officials and club helpers. A big thank you to club official Cheryl Duff or volunteering her time to officiate during round 2.
